Bad Service and no response to mails
My grandparents had an endowment policy with Metropolitan ,that matured the 01 Dec 2020 but was not claimed as she was ill and passed away on the 25/12/2020 . After finding documents regarding this policy we submitted all necessary documentation to Mitchells Plain branch on the 12/02 i then called the branch on the 02/03 just to hear that documents has not been submitted and only then submitted to head office ,but in this time i have mailed Metropolitan with no reply ,i send my complaint and got a call on the 08/03 from Anathi Qobo requesting i get a letter of authorization from the Magistrate of High court ,according to my knowledge that is only needed if there is no beneficiary listed or there is no will . The call center agent that called me could not even assist me correctly and said i can get this letter of Authority at the nearest Magistrates court .They seem to be giving their clients the run around when it time for policy to be paid out. They have now lost a potential client in the process as well as i was considering taking out a policy with them ,but after this service a cannot even recommend anyone .
Thank you for raising your concerns with our office.
Please note that a beneficiary is entitled to the death claim proceeds of a policy if the insured person passes away during the lifetime of the policy.
Once a policy has reached maturity, the maturity claim is payable to the policy owner.
Frequently the insured person and policy owner are one and the same person.
Where an policy owner passes away after the maturity date, the maturity proceeds that was payable to them, then become payable to their estate.
One of our Client Care Assessors will investigate your claim and revert back to you as soon as possible.
