Bad customer service by Metropolitan
Last year September I took out a policy with Metropolitan,in November I couldn't pay due to financial constraints,December they went to debit still no funds meaning I only paid in October,so in January I was hoping that they'll double debit the missed premiums as I didn't receive any correspondence or anything,to my surprise the policy had lapsed the 31st of Jan n yet they were supposed to debit the 25th of Jan no calls or emails received notifying me about the lapse only when I had lost the person I covered I was told that by one of their consultants then she went on to say but if I can repay the R740 my policy status will go back to active the question I have asked them is the grace period cz there was a successful debit in October so why is there no grace period,Metropolitan customer service is pathetic n I'm still waiting for the manager to call me as per the conversation I had with their consultant
We acknowledge receipt of your complaint on HelloPeter.
We are sorry to read of the financial constraints that has led to the lapsing of your plan.
When a debit order is unpaid, our following double debit will depends on the reason for the unpaid debit order rejection - for instance:
- if a premium is reversed by an accountholder, that stop debit instruction stays valid for three months on the bank's system and they won't allow us to debit the following month, let alone double debit
- if a debit is just reversed due to insufficient funds, we can double debit the following month
One of our Client Care Assessors will investigate the matter and revert back to you directly as soon as possible.
