40 minutes late and double the price en route

Had the worst taxi cab experience today from Metro Taxis. Made a booking at 7am for 8am with their switchboard and was given a price of R50.00. At 8:05 no taxi arrived. Phoned switchboard - on its way. At 8:15 still no taxi - phoned switch board and told car had a breakdown, another car will be there in 5 mins. By 8:30 still no metro taxi. Now i am late for work and an important board meeting. Called again and told taxi is 5 mins away. Taxi arrived at 8:42. Taxi driver says he was only given the call from switchboard very late. He contacts switchboard to confirm the fare and switchboard says R90. The price has almost doubled en route. Pathetic service Metro. When asked why is the price now R90, switchboard says because you are dropping off in Ridge Road and not \the special\" Durban Road. From my home to Durban Road is 8.8km using the N3, From my home to Ridge Road is 8.3km using the N3. So Metro after showing up over 40 mins late for a booking you want to charge me double the price to travel an even shorter distance? I've used Ronnies, Mohamed's, Khan's and Junior Taxis and have never had such a terrible experience before. METRO you have lost a potential regular customer for life. "
