Police *******ion and abouse of power.

So my cousin brother bought an accident damaged car in Feb this year, it was at the panel beater until beginning of August when he started using it. Sunday 23 Aug morning some metro police and a tracking company vehicle went to where the car was parked (inside a covered building not visible from outside).

The security guard called my cousin telling him there's police wanting to tow away the car, when he got there he was cuffed on arrival and keys taken away, charge was possession of a ****** vehicle, they apparently tracked it there with the tracking company. He called the person who sold him the car and the person confirmed he bought the car and the car is not ******, the metro police disregarded all that and took him to Point Saps where he was put in the cells. The person who sold him the car explained that the car was once ****** in 2009, it was recovered and the case closed same year, the person was arrested and convicted.

Later on around 4pm the same day he was transferred to Durban Central Police where he slept overnight in the cells. When at court the following day he was just released, told to go as there was no case with his name in the file. According to them he wasn't supposed to be arrested. There was only the old 2009 closed case file.

Now in trying to recover the vehicle from Isipingo Police Pound there are many stories coming out, up to now there are saying it hasnt been booked in, then also they can't even show us the car just to confirm that it did actually come into the isipingo pound.

The metro police statement now has changed from tracker company tracking down the car to that they saw the car parked for long and conducted an investigation and found out its duplicated in Musina (But how can a car with V/O numbers be duplicated, the original VIN was scratched off and replaced with V/O as a ****** and recovered vehicle in 2009). Also how did they see a car parked inside a closed building, 5 floors up and no windows or open space to see from outside. The tracking car number plate also belongs to a division of metro police apparently and when the person who sold the car made contact, they said they were called out by the metro cop who went to do the arrest. Sgt Mthembu of dog unit Metro (as he identified himself).

At point SAPS the IO was very dismissive and didn't want to hear anything from anyone, he would say don't call me and told another guy who had gone to find out what the story is to go and bring R10 000 and they will sort it out.

The car hasn't been recovered nor are the exact whereabouts clear.
