Mistreated by Metro Police Officer

It was on the 21st of February 2019 at 17:05 when the IPTA (Ivory Park Taxi Association) Taxi was stopped by a Traffic Cop at the corner of Pretoria and Katherine Street in Sandton. I personally think that the road block was manned at the wrong time and place because it resulted in a traffic jam that streched at least for 5Km. This road block was headed by a Mr E Sibiya. The Taxi Driver was on the wrong and to make it worse did not haveany proof of Identification. I approached the Traffic Officer who had stopped us to ask what was the next thing because we had been waiting for between 20 to 25 minutes. He did not respond and went on to stop other cars. Then one of his fellow Officers asked our Taxi Driver to call the Queue Marshal and request for another taxi. Our Driver responded by saying that he did not have money to give to the Driver who would come and take us to Ebony Park as he had just filled up fuel at Shell Garage a stone throw away. The fellow Officer understood and advised the Officer who had initially stopped us to let us go. He said that he would not. Thats when I intervined and suggested that he looked at the solution than dwell on the problem. He was infuriated by my suggestion. I then approached Mr E Sibiya who seemed to be in charge because of the uniformed he had on. What disappointed me was that he refused to use his authority and while I was talking to him the first Officer was letting our Driver go. Thats when my wife called me and the Officer said that I was not allowed to get into the Taxi unless I apologised. I refused to apologised and he said that the Taxi could not leave. To avoid inconviniencing the other Passengers my wife and I alighted and walked back to Sandton Gautrain Station. Thats when the Taxi was let to go. The person that disappointed me the most was Mr E Sibiya whom I notified that I was going to write this Review. It is so very sad to have people of his calibre as Leaders.
