EMPD

I wold like to register my dissapointment with the EMPD(kemptonpark) I was involved in a car accident on 24 April 2021, I called 911 for assistance and they called EMPD on my behalf, the reference for EMPD is *** this reference will assist hellopeter to locate the officer who was dispatched for my case. I very dissapointed with the unprofessional and ********* conduct that was displayed by the EMPD upon arrival at the accident scene.

The story of the matter is that my car was hit by the driver of car B who did the following...

1.did not stop at the stop sign 2.under influence of alchohol

Just few minutes after the occurrence of the accident, the driver of car B heard that police are coming since he was drunk he could be arrested for drunk driving.... he then tried to run away, fortunate enough he was stoped a mile away by the security guys who arrived at the scene.

Upon arrival of the Officer(EMPD) he asked for my licence which I gave to him and then took a piece of paper and write my particulars and asked the driver of car B for a licence, and the driver told him that he did not have a licence and he was not the one driving the vehicle, he was the passanger and the actual driver ran away. I immediately intervened and told the officer that the guy was telling lies and he was so drunk hence he could barley walk or talk. I then requested the officer to breatherlize him, the officer responded by saying that he cannot do the tests due to Covid _19, so because of covid-19 does that mean that drunk driving is condoned? The Officer also did not bother to confirm to people who were at the scene to get the truth whether the guy was a driver or not, such obvious lie to be believe by the person who suppose to enforce the law, I strongly believe that he was offered a bribe. He even told me to go to SAPS to open a reckless driving case against the driver of car B which did not make sense to me because he believed a lie that he was told by another driver but he wants me to open a case against the driver. The Officer failed to ask a simple question to the guy who said he was not the driver just to say since he was not the driver and he knew who the driver of his car was since they were traveling together, can he provide the particulars of such person.... None whatsoever. Moreover, fleeing accident science has the following consequences

1. Is a hit and run. 2. Is a ******** offense. 3.is punishable in terms of the law.

So the officer decide to ignore all of those things for what reason, I do not know. He must be held accountable for such ******* behavior.

I hope hellopeter will follow up this matter as a matter of urgency.
