Review of Metro Police Officer Conduct

This morning (09/10/2024) at around 07:30am to 08:00am , I encountered a troubling situation near the on-ramp by Spruitview and Leondale due to an oil spillage. My car lost control, and the foot brake failed to function, forcing me to use the hand brake to bring the vehicle to a stop. As I was trying to maneuver my car safely to the yellow line to avoid obstructing traffic, I signaled to a traffic officer(Mr. Khumalo)who was managing the scene.

Despite my clear indication that I was experiencing a mechanical issue (using my hazard lights and trying to move slowly to safety), the officer reacted unprofessionally. Instead of assisting or providing direction, he resorted to calling me names, adding unnecessary stress to an already hazardous situation.

It’s disheartening to experience such behavior from an officer whose duty is to maintain safety and assist motorists in distress. A more empathetic and professional response would have been greatly appreciated in such a dangerous scenario. I hope this review serves as feedback for improved training and conduct in future interactions with the public.
