Ripoff
Had oil in my spark plugs. Should have just been the valve cover gasket. However, according to Merlot, a new engine was required. I accepted that and told them to go ahead. Paid them R40 000 yesterday. Needless to say, I got another call today from them to say that the engine has been ordered, but they want another R11 000 for a fly wheel and other things ... REALLY ...???!!! I would suggest people stay away from this place ... I didn't learn last time though, so it is my fault - as I was quoted R1800 for a normal service and ended up paying R4900 for that service because they had to "do other things" ... that didn't appear on the invoice. Do yourself a favour and STAY AWAY FROM THESE PEOPLE ...!!! They are con artists of the highest degree.
Merlot did go out of their way to ensure that my vehicle was repaired to the correct standards. The actual cost of the engine was not their doing - it is what they were charged. I received the full invoice and the actual labour that was charged was minimal compared to the parts that were obtained.
