Motor Repair Centre is ignoring Consumer Act

This report is issued as a warning against motorists who live in the TableView/ Parklands areas. I contacted these people to book a Hyundai service and dropped the vehicle off for a service. It was my father's car and he recently died, but left me R1000 for this service in preparation for the car sale. About 4 hours later I was advised that the car required new brakes and a new clutch, windscreen wipers, and a cambelt. Tracey quoted me about R13K for the job but the car is a 2002 model so is worth not much more than that. I told them to go ahead with what needed to be done to get it through roadworthy (drop the cambelt change and wipers) and assumed the oil change would be done too because that was the reason for bringing the car in. They did not revise their telephonic quote, neither did they present me with quotation in writing at any stage, which is a contravention of the Consumer Act. The car repairs came to R8521 (clutch kit, brake pads and 2 rear brake cylinders). No service was done &amp
