⚠️ Warning to anyone in South Africa considering buying engines or parts from Mereeves I am extremely disappointed with my experience with this company. I purchased a VW Golf 7 GTI head, block and sump from Mereeves for R42,000, after being told the parts were original / OEM quality. My vehicle was towed to CPI to install the engine. On the very first start-up, the engine had a clear knocking sound. I immediately sent Mereeves:• video proof of the noise, and• a written report from CPI confirming the mechanical fault. The engine was never driven even once. I returned the engine as instructed, yet Mereeves: delayed the process for weeks, gave me constant excuses and a run-around, and now wants to deduct 20% “handling fees” despite the engine being faulty on first start. They are also refusing to refund me and are trying to shift the blame to “poor workmanship”, even though the engine fault was confirmed in writing by a professional workshop. Based on my experience, I strongly feel that what was sold to me does not match what was advertised to me as OEM quality. I followed their return rules and procedures exactly, returned the engine, supp**** all proof, and still I am being refused a proper refund. I am posting this to warn other customers:Please be extremely careful before spending your hard-earned money with this company. This has caused me serious financial loss, towing costs, installation costs and weeks of unnecessary stress. Buyer beware.
