Why bother !!

In October last year I paid a substantial bill to Mercedes Northcliff - particularity for a vacuum pump. I think the amount was near R30 000. I returned again at the end of May, when a number of things were going wrong. At that time, I specifically said that there was an oil leak and could it be checked out. The car had been standing for for 2 weeks while I was away and I was grateful that the service offered included sending someone with a battery pack to quick start the car. The extremely high bill I received included a battery (which I didn't need) and a side mirror (which I have since replaced at a quarter of the price) and totalled nearly R29 000! - and this also included the vacuum pump. Needless to say, I managed to get that bill down to a manageable R12000. I returned shortly afterwards with the oil leak still not fixed. I was told that yes, the mechanic had seen that there was an oil leak - but did nothing. The advise I received at that time was that it would be too expensive to take the cylinder head off and repair the car, so best just get rid of it. (it is 10 years old). I have found some fantastic guys in Fordsburg who have fixed the oil leak and tell me my car is good for another 200 000 kilometres! They fixed that problem for R10 000 and a few other things were fixed at the same time. My car is in great working condition and still doesn't need a battery...... shame on you Northcliff Mercedes.
