Poor Service Mercedes Bens Bedfordview / South Africa
I took my daughters vehicle A200 to MB Bedfordview - Cargo Motors for a fault on the key - the vehicle would not lock and a warranty repair on a oil leak they identified on the previous service, some part had to be authorised under warranty and the vehicle had to come back again. I got chatting to the service advisor and asked him about Car-Play, he said the radio in the car cant be programmed with Car-Play so I will have to get a Radio that already has Car-Play programmed on it. So I found a Radio, as I was advised to do and MB Bedfordview fitted the Radio for me, they advised me that the Radio wont have a warranty as it was not purchased with the vehicle. The vehicle still had a Service Plan so I agreed to this. Only to find out after I got the vehicle back from MB Bedfordview that they had loaded exactly the same software on the "new radio" that the original radio had on ….. SO NO CAR-PLAY! Anyway so Car-Play was obviously not meant to be! The reason the car went in was to sort out the vehicle not locking and the oil leak - I COULD NOT BELIEVE A MERCEDES BENS HAD A OIL LEAK IN THE FIRST PLACE! Well never the less I gave the vehicle back to my daughter and she took the vehicle in for its planned service a few month later at MB Grand Central Mts. I then received a call to please come pay for the service, I asked why, its under service plan? They advised the dealer MB Bedfordview has suspended your service plan! I said that's impossible, I was attempting to call them for about 40 minutes with no luck so I got in my car drove to them Cargo Motors Bedfordview - they said there is no way the Service Plan had been suspended and duly gave me a print out saying all is ok from MB SA. I forwarded this print out to Grand Central Motors where the vehicle was serviced thinking I would now be refunded for the key replacement and the service I paid for. My daughter arrived back from University parked her vehicle in the drive way, shuffling vehicles around my gardener told me my bakkie a Toyota Hi-Lux is leaking oil on the drive, being a new vehicle I said that's impossible just to find its my daughters A200 leaking oil! Again I took the vehicle to MB Cargo Motors Bedfordview, I explained this is not on it needs to be sorted for the last time now, the vehicle stood there for a week I called and asked when it would be ready we need the car my daughter needs to go back to University, to be told no Sir your vehicle Motor plan is suspended, I rep**** it cant be you gave me a print out that all is in order with the service plan! They then said its due to you missing a service, I said that's not correct and proved to them the vehicle was serviced at Grand Central(that I pad for). They has absolutely no clue what they were on about - just to mention the oil leak was originally a warranty repair " a vehicle defect that they repaired under warranty" that is still to today leaking oil!!
I feel I need to mention I have always been a very Pro Merc driver and fan I have owned two brand new C63 Amg's, GLA, my wife drives a GLA220d and my daughter the A200. I was stumped and asked what do I do now they told me call MB SA Customer Care and log a complaint, so I called only for them to tell me a Agent would call me back, weeks went by, I called again, the same promise a agent would call me back. In the meantime the vehicle is standing at MB Bedfordview waiting for a service - a service that I bought with the car! I then rented a vehicle for my daughter as she had to go back to University.
So I thought my daughter drives up and down to Bloemfontein let me get her a new A200 and trade the old one in just to be told its worthless as the Service plan can not be extended as it was suspended!
If this is the way Mercedes Bens South Africa treats their clients, we have three Mercs in the market for sale today! Sorry One worthless one with a Oil Lea**** They cant even call you back! I don't think this is how Germany treats their clients! Why should MB SA!
