Poor Quality Components

<p>My wife took her 2011 C180 to mercedes menlyn to have the aluminium foil on the steering replaced a it had become a health hazard.</p> <p>The health hazard was the sharp edges of the aluminium fool wrapped around the molded plastic on the steering wheel. I was cut by the sharp edges on 2 occasions and ask Merc replace the component at their expense as it was poor design and manufacture.</p> <p>I was asked to drop of the vehicle at Merc Menlyn to have this component replaced. At around lunch time, I was informed that I had to pay a 25% customer contribution of R4356.35. I did not agree to the contribution and collected my vehicle.</p> <p>I read through my purchase contract documentation as there is no mention of a 25% customer contribution. </p> <p>I am of the opinion that Merc is really compromising on quality resulting in cheap and poor quality components that become the customers problem down the line.</p>
