Near death encounter in my Mercedes

I have a Mercedes Benz SL500. A week ago i was driving on the double dekker section of ths M1south in Johannesburg when my dashboard lite up with red lights flashing together with a buzzing sound, the message read stop the car immediately 😱i naturally had a huge shock because i was in traffic and in the middle lane of the highway. Eventually i brought the car to a stop on the side of the road. I panicked because this is Johannesburg and on the side of the road in a fancy car is not the ideal situation concidering that Gauteng is probably the crime capital of the world. To cut a long story short eventually i had my Merc towed to a Merc dealer who informed me that the SBC brake pump had failed and the cost to replace is R65000 plus labour. 😱I thought really this is crazy. I then Googled this problem and found out that this was a common problem with these cars all over the world. However Mercedes benz USA and Mercedes benz UK have extended warranties for 25 yrs on the specified SBC pump but Mercedes benz South Africa doesn't. I think this is rediculously unfair concidering the fact that South Africa at one stage had the most Mercedes in the world per capita. Surely Mercedes benz South Africa has there customers interested at heart. I own 5 Mercs and i love them, but issue is really surprising. I think Merc owners in South Africa needs to know that Mercedes benz SA does not hold our safety and loyalty of importance. As they are aware this this terrible braking system fault and has done nothing about it but only wants to profit my from us as customers. This is truelly a sad situation because i could have been involved in a terrible accident with possible lives being lost. I would appreciate if MERCEDES BENZ SOUTH AFRICA would rectify this situation. Thanking you A distressed Mercedes benz owner. 😔
