Mercedes trying to pass cost of out of date batteries to there customers

I drive a Mercedes-Benz C220 Coupe 2019 I took my car to Mercedes Constantia because the battery light keep coming on, and I was getting texts from the Mercedes App saying the starter battery was critical. I was told by the service adviser Mpho to booked the car in, Moho called to say that I needed a new battery and that my warranty didn’t cover it because the battery was replaced just about a year ago and it would cost R9000. I told her I would not pay that and to bring me my car. She then told me that if I took the car, she must write to Mercedes South Africa and that I would lose my warranty. I ask her to explain, she then ask one of the service guys to explain to me. He told me that I was negligent because I hadn’t driven the car enough, and Mercedes South Africa sent a memo to them about a year ago with milage requirements. and that I should write to Mercedes South Africa about the matter, and there was nothing they could do. I've made several calls to her to get a number or email to make a complaint to MBSA only to not have called returned. I don't understand how a policy like that could be implemented doing the COVID lockdown we've been under for the last two years. I think Mercedes South Africa need to be held accountable for instituting such a policy doing COVID lockdown so they don't have to honor their warranties. I find this practice by companies very disturbing and needs to be brought to the light.
