Mercedes-Benz Service

On the 3rd of December 2019 I took my car to Mercedes-Benz Menlyn for a service with 97 000km.

I requested my service advisor to check everything because it was last service and I was going to travel with my family during the festive season, I even mentioned that am receiving notifications on tires and the key and that what I could remember.

We traveled to KZN with my family on the 26th of December 2019 and back on the 30th December 2019 just on my way back I got a brake pads notification, I then took the car back to Mercedes-Benz Menlyn on the 31st of December 2019 and it was closed by then my kilometres were above +100 000km. I took my car again on the 2nd of January 2020 and explained to them, that this car was here two weeks back and now it giving me notifications again. Unfortunately I was told they won’t be able to assist me since my kilometers are above 100 000km already, I then asked why my brake pads were not changed during the service and my car keys was not fixed I was told it Mercedes-Benz SA Policy that they cannot changed the brake pads if the light is not on I must take the issue up with Mercedes-Benz SA.

I have called and wrote to Mercedes Benz SA regarding this issue but they also said they cant help me with anything if I so wish I can take my case to Motor Industry Ombudsman of South Africa.

I feel this is unfair to me as a customer, that I took my car for service and the assessment was done and people can see my car brake pads are wear out but they won’t fix it just because of the light is not on and considering it was my last service and it during festive season everyone is traveling for holiday, my life and family was put on risk shame.
