Mercedes Benz is a reputable and respectable brand from which I did not expect bad service from
Me and my family have been loyal supporters to the Mercedes Benz brand for over 15 years. Mercedes Benz is part of the family and hopefully will continue to be so for generations to come in the Mkhwa**** and Moyo household. Me and my family are predominantly successful individuals and the reason everyone chooses Mercedes Benz is because it is a successful brand in which we all can align to in our respective fields whether in the finance field, engineering field, law field or medical field. This is probably what Karl Friedrich Benz had in mind when he received the patent for the motorcar in 1886. Mercedes Benz is a reputable and respectable brand from which I did not expect bad service from. When I purchased this car with MBSA, I also paid for the service and goodwill that comes with the Brand. I am writing to express my dissatisfaction about the service and the on-going stress caused to me by Mercedes Benz South Africa(“MBSA”). My Mercedes Benz Model A200 was returned to me with scratches that were not there when the vehicle was towed, and I was later provided with a clearly altered Checklist of my vehicle. This is in addition to numerous other complaints and unprofessional service displayed by MBSA. My case number is Mercedes-Benz CS-***. On the 05th of February 2020, I took my vehicle in for service at Mercedes Benz Sandton and my vehicle broke down on my way to KwaZulu Natal due to the “oil filter being loose” along with the display screen going blank which is a safety hazard on 22nd February 2020. The car was subsequently towed by MBSA and taken in for repairs and they didn’t furnish me with a checklist which I requested before handing over my vehicle to them on the 22nd February 2020. They guaranteed to send it to me on before Monday the 24th of February 2020 in which they didn’t. The following events then took place: I received no feedback from MB Vaal Motors & MBSA with regards to the progress on my vehicle, I constantly had to contact them and was never given any clear answers on the matter. I have email communication to proof this. Secondly when my car was towed, it had close to a full tank of petrol. During the period which my car was with MBSA for repairs, I was made aware that my car was being driven around (for testing I assume) yet my fuel was not refilled when I received the car back. The breakdown was initially caused by negligent work done by Mercedes Benz Sandton when I took my car in for service 2 weeks prior to me travelling to KwaZulu Natal for a business meeting. I don’t understand why as a customer should I suffer or be at an inconvenience for the negligent work done by one of your dealerships in respect to servicing my car. There is no integrity or respect in issuing me with an altered document, if anything that is disrespect and sows that MBSA undermines my intelligence as a client. The checklist was altered after notifying MBSA about a scratch on my back bumper. How conveniently is that thrdocumentation of the scratch is in different ink colour to the vehicle checklist document and is included under other notes?. Anyone with a matric certificate can see that document has been altered. It is evident that “The Best or Nothing” is just a motto used to lure us into purchasing cars with an unreliable and dishonest Company. The South African Mercedes Benz branch is letting the great work of Karl Benz and the Mercedes Benz Germany go to ****s with their lack of good customer service; integrity and ownership. At this point, I am ready to sell the car and make sure that I have nothing that ever associates me with MBSA and such high levels of disrespect and dishonesty. I pay a hefty amount of money for me to have to suffer at the hands of MBSA to this extend. I am not paying for a small basic car and therefore expect great service and consideration from the people whom I have made a decision to purchase from. I highly advice that Mercedes Benz Germany head office investigate this matter as I am considering taking legal action against MBSA as my Consumer Rights have been violated; the right to safe, good quality goods amongst others. I will be taking this matter up with the Motor Industry Ombudsman of South Africa. I will not be subjected to this kind of service any longer than what I have had to endure thus far.
