I was sold a damaged car that was masked with paint to cover the damage and I was left stranded with a damaged car cause Mercedes could provide me with transport.

MERCEDES BENZ SOLD ME A DAMAGED CAR THAT WAS COVERED WITH PAINT TO MUSK THE DAMAGE and I WAS LEFT STRANDED , FEELING UNSAFE BECAUSE MERCEDES COULD NOT HELP WITH A TRYE AND METRIX TRACKERS WAS NOT RESPONSIVE

I bought a brand new GLA 200 at the Constantia dealership on the 19th May 2023, I was excited to own such a brand!

1. On the 30th of June I was at a funeral at the Vaal Sebokeng ext 7, and unfortunately my tyre got damaged. I called Mercedes Me with great confidence of getting road side assistance. I was then transferred to a Jaco who is an a Mercedes Benz technician. Jaco told me he will send a towing vehicle to come collect my car and take it to the nearest Mercedes dealership to assist with the a tyre change, but I have to make sure I get transport to get me home since I stay “far” which is about 65km away from where I was. Then I refused for my car to be taken , my safety was totally disregarded. I was in an area that I was unfami**** with and stranded . Then I remembered I have a platinum plan with Matrix the tracker company . 2. I have a panic button that I was informed that I can press in case of an emergency or for roadside assistance. I pressed those buttons and no-one called me, I decided to call Mr Khumalo the kind Mercedes Benz sales man, who happened to be helpful and gave me the Matrix contacts, then I called and I was told I am not in the Platinum plan according to their system, I insisted because I remembered that I signed up for the full package on the day I collected my car. I still don’t have the policy certificate. 3. Now Im left with a flat tyre with no spare wheel while I thought my tyres were run flats because there was no spare wheel in the car. I had no choice but to leave my car parked outside in an unsafe area because I needed to catch a lift with someone who happened to be going towards my direction in a rush. I mean, I am a woman in South Africa getting stuck in an unfami**** place which is 65km Mercedes totally failed me. 4. The next day I went looking for the Mercedes Approved tyre 235/45 20 inch with no luck, no one had stock. Yes Mr Khumalo did inform me of this the previous day that there has been a shortage of stock on the tyre. I was able to get a tyre for R1900.00. I was unable to change the tyre because there was no wheel spanner and no Jack and no triangle in the car. I called Mercedes me, a tow car was sent to pick up my car to take it to the Vaal dealership. I signed the towing truck document, and then Jaco made me sign a blank document which he said he will fill up, which looked like he will fill up the things done on the car, I asked him to email me the document. I was charged R1050.00, that is R950.00 for diagnostic and the other for his labour, I am not sure what was the diagnostic for because I showed him the affected tyre. I left the dealership around 19h00. I just learned last week that my tyres are not locked and I can buy the wheel spanner when I was given incorrect info at the dealership that they were locked so that they can be safe 5. There is a shortage in the country of this tyre, should I have a damaged tyre again, I will be left with no car and no courtesy car while trying to find a tyre.

6. As all this was happening, I noticed my car has scratch that looks looked like its covered with white paint that was starting to come off. When I got to the dealership, I asked Jaco what could it be, he confirms is a scratch that looks like it was covered up, he rubbed off some of the white paint on it, and advised I take it up with the branch where I bought the car. I notified Mr Khumalo on the 30th when I noticed the covered scratch, he then advised I come through to have a chat with his manager. They both notice that this was covered up and acknowledge the scratch. Then the manager said the solution would be to respray my car but it mightI reduce the value of the car in future, which I am not happy with.

How do I buy a brand new car and I get a car that has a scratch which now requires to be respray . I didn’t buy my car at we buy cars, I bought it at Mercedes Benz, and the cost of that car its quiet hefty for the quality of service im being given.
