GLC Tyres

<p>In June 2016 I took delivery of a new MB GLC250d. The vehicle is not equiped with a spare wheel. It is not on the list of options that you can order. What you are not told when buying the car is that the standard tyres fitted on the vehicle are not run flat tyres, neither are all tyres on the options you can order. In fact on the options list provided to me there is no indication whether the tyres are run flat or not. I am an engineer and discussed the technical detail of the vehicle in detail before I bought it. I was under the impression that it was fitted with run flat tyres. I am relatively confident the sales person was under the same impression.</p> <p>While driving on 7 November the tyre pressure monitor indicated that one of the tyres are losing pressure. Having experience with run flat tyres (also on a MB), I carried on driving untill I realised that something is wrong. The tyre was completely flat, I only then realised it was not run flat tyres. With the assistance of the recovery truck driver I managed to fix the tyre with plugs I had in the vehicle and the TIREFIT kit.</p> <p>To add insult to injury; Having used the sealant in the kit I went to Mercedes Benz Century City, where I bought the vehicle, to buy a replacement bottle, only to be told it must be ordered from Germany. Hopefully not another flat tyre until the replacement bottle of sealant arrives from Germany.</p> <p>HOW CAN MERCEDES BENZ SELL A CAR (COSTING MORE THAN R 700 000) IN SOUTH AFRICA WITHOUT A SPARE WHEEL AND NO RUN-FLAT TYRES (AND YOU ARE NOT MADE AWARE OF THIS AT TIME OF PURCHASE)? ON TOP OF IT THE CUSTOMER MUST WAIT FOR REPLACEMENT SEALER FROM GERMANY ONCE THAT IN THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN USED.</p>
