Failure to disclose prior accident on the car
I purchased the A200 in June 2020 at Mercedes Benz Menlyn and all went well.
Few months after the purchasing the car the clear coat paints on the front bumper started peeling off and I notified the dealership.
They informed me that this was a “factory fault” and will have it sorted out.
I was tasked with finding a Mercedes approved spray paint shop so it can be sorted out. Surely the car was fixed at Precision and Sons as the front bumper was repainted and the dealership paid for the repairs (copy of the quotation attached).
At the beginning of 2022 the rear bumper, left rear fender and left door started peeling off too. I informed the dealership about it and was told the same story of factory fault.
While sitting at the dealership, the sales manager (Schalk Botha) went on the car history on the system and that’s when my horror thoughts were confirmed.
The car had a prior accident /damage and this was never disclosed prior to me purchasing it. Had I known about the prior damages I would not have purchased the car or if I did I would have negotiated the lessor purchase price as the value would not be the same due to prior repairs done.
I requested the copies of the repair history and this was provided (copies attached).
Mercedes Menlyn made arrangements with Saturn Auto body to respray the rear bumper and fenders in April 2022.
In May 2022 the rear fender is peeling off again and I am fed up with this car.
Mercedes Benz Menlyn made misrepresentation to me by hiding the material information which could have impacted my decision before committing to buy a car. This is pure misrepresentation and I am intending of instructing my attorneys to institute civil claim for the loss I suffered due to non-disclosure of the material car information( prior repairs).
Moreover, I have spent more time in having the car fixed than me enjoying the car.
I was short changed as there is no way I would have purchased a car with prior accident on that amount. I was ******.
This was my first experience with Mercedes Benz and I can assure you that your reputation is lost and might not ever see me in any of your dealerships if this is not resolved.
I really do not want this s**** car anymore or at least I should be compensated for high price I paid under the impression that I was buying a vehicle without any accident history.
Looking forward to hearing from you
