Engine replacement due to blown turbo shortly after vehicle was out of motorplan

<p>The following communication was passed on to Mercedes Benz SA for comment and to date I have had no response:</p> <p>"I am the owner of a 2009 Viano 2.2 CRD and recently the turbo vanes came apart obviously damaging the turbo. I had the vehicle towed in to Grand Central Motors Midrand who replaced the turbo at a cost of R20,000 odd but still the vehicle would not start. They then removed the head to check and cylinders 2 & 3 had being damaged beyond repair and they told me the engine had to be replaced. Their advice was that a brand new engine would cost too much but they could source me a second-hand engine from MBC-Parts which they did and it cost me a further R42,000. After the fitting the engine the vehicle would still not start and they advised that 2 of the injectors needed replacing at R12,000. I authorised this as what choice did I have. The engine now started but was misfiring and I have been advised now that there is leakage on the other two injectors and must authorise another R12,000. All of these costs are without labour added and the bill is going to come to close to R200K. <br /> <br />As the car has just come off motorplan at R120K I feel that the turbo vanes coming off and doing so much damage is definitely not due to normal wear and tear and rather a manufacturing fault in the turbo unit.<br /> <br />I would like your comments on this and any assistance you can offer in reducing my costs to put the vehicle back on the road if possible<br /> <br />kind regards,<br /> <br />Kevin Greig<br /> <br />P.S.
