Drop off a working vehicle, now left with a 80k bill

Good day,

I wonder who can assist me. I have taken my 2016 Mercedes Benz c220d to replace the tappet cover gasket to be replaced as it started leaking.

I have never missed a service and have purchased and serviced the car at George Mercedes Benz.

I have actually had a few maintenance issues with the car (alot more then i have ever had with any of my previous cars) and all work has been carried out by George Mercedes Benz.

I drove my car to George with no issues, besides the bit of oil leakage my car has never given me major issues. I drove into the dealership, handed over a working vehicle with the instructions to only needing to replace the tappet cover gasket.

I dropped off my car Wednesday 9 November, now what should've been a stress free preventive maintenance job has turned into the absolute worst experience I've ever had.

I have now been informed 2 weeks later that my car is unable to start as all for injectors needs to be replaced and it's a hefty R80 000 bill.

I went to the dealership on Monday 21 November, I dealt with the workshop manager Marlize and her senior and was told i can contact Mercedes SA if i want but they have nothing to do with the damages and will not carry the responsibility.

I was never informed that by replacing a gasket can result in 4 injectors dying at the same time, this is really unacceptable and un heard of. How do i know my car was driven? I drove it in working perfectly fine.

No courtesy vehicle was or has been offered.

I'm at a loss for words and in hindsight if i knew what i knew now i would never have replaced it and rather would've sold this car. I've always dreamt of owning a Mercedes Benz but it has left nothing but a sour taste in my mouth.

I would like to get your thoughts on this and how do i proceed.

Kind regards, Dan Stevens ***
