Disappointing Customer Experience with Mercedes-Benz Malmesbury: Quality and Service concerns following C200 AMG purchase.
I am deeply disappointed with the customer experience I have had with Mercedes-Benz Malmesbury, Cape Town, following my purchase of a C200 AMG 2022 model in November 2024. Despite being marketed as a high-quality pre-owned vehicle with only 22,000km, I have driven it for less than two weeks since purchase due to numerous unresolved issues.
The initial concerns included:
* USB port not working – Resolved * Dashboard control panel – Resolved * Water leakage (rainwater entering via the windscreen onto the brake and accelerator area) – Resolved, though the replacement windscreen was not tinted as I had requested. * Old driver-side car mat (ill-fitting and constantly moving) – Resolved * Boot mat (old and worn) – Not addressed * Missing first aid kit – Resolved
Due to these issues, I was unable to use my car over the December holidays and had to rely on a courtesy vehicle. Upon receiving my car on December 30, 2024, I noticed steering vibrations at speeds above 100km/h. After alerting Jacques at Mercedes-Benz, an inspection revealed that all four rims were damaged, with one visibly repaired using welding. This issue significantly impacts the driving comfort and raises serious concerns about the vehicle's prior condition.
I am extremely disappointed that such defects were not identified or disclosed prior to the sale. As a loyal Mercedes-Benz customer, I went out of my way to purchase this vehicle from Cape Town, expecting it to be an upgrade. Unfortunately, this has turned into my worst experience with the brand.
I regret this purchase and am now questioning Mercedes-Benz's commitment to quality and transparency. Moving forward, I am seriously considering alternative brands.
