APPALLING MERCEDES BENZ SERVICE

Wednesday 8 June 2016, I took my S-Class Mercedes for service Mercedes Benz Rosebank, 7 days later Thursday 6 June 2016, car stopped middle of the road with no warning at all. It was towed to Mercedes Benz Bryanston (manager: ********** they assessed it, consulted with Mercedes Rosebank and Mercedes Germany and concluded in the technical report that, the engine seized due to engine oil leak from an oil cooler seal and quote to replace is R506,639.40 and the portion I have to pay is R106,639 in order for them to release my car.

I got this email on the 20 July 2016 after a month long of tests and Mercedes investigation.

On the 4 August 2016 I escalated the problem to Mercedes Benz customer care, they gave me following ref no: 1- ********** 447, they phoned me back Tuesday 16 August 2016, advising that, there is nothing they can do, I have to pay the R106,639 in order to get my car as they were advised that, Mercedes could not anticipate the failure of the oil cooler seal and according to the computer report, it did indicate to me that there was "low engine oil".

My point is, even though the car never reported this on dashboard, even if it did, I wouldn't have stopped the car immediately, I would have driven to nearest petrol station, and car engine would have seized on the way as oil would squirt so quickly out of the engine, so this seems to be a factory fault that needs to be addressed to all S-Class models same as mine.

My questions are: How often is this rubber seal replaced normally, when was the last time it was replaced in my car, and what is the normal lifespan of this rubber. This is a very big risk to all Mercedes Benz S-Class owners around the world and needs to be addressed urgently.
