Maintance Plan

I bought a new Mercedes A200 a few years back, The car is still on motor plan, There is just over 18000km on the clock. The Clutch of the car went, they refuse to fix it under a motor plan, I find it hard to believe that a car with so little kilometers that been hardly used clutch can go.
