Given an "Unroadworthy" Vehicle by Mercedes Benz

<p>I sent my car to Mercedes Benz East Rand for a usual duly service, and alignment. Everything went as per normal.</p> <p>I am however extremely upset as Mercedes Benz released the vehicle with it being unroadworthy and checked.</p> <p> </p> <p>Once the vehicle was picked up and during my journey home I released the alignment was actually off, nevertheless I did not take the situation as a problem.</p> <p> </p> <p>After 5km after picking up the vehicle I had a blowout/ tyre burst on the highway.</p> <p>I am extremely fortunate that this happened in traffic travelling at 30km/h.</p> <p>I was baffled that the tyre (rear right) had burst. I treated it as a normal puncture and upon inspection later that day I noticed cuts on the inside wall of the tyre.</p> <p>Reported the incident to Mercedes Benz east rand and advised that continental inspected the tyre and the damage has been caused by lack of pressure. Fair enough...</p> <p> </p> <p>I then asked Mercedes Benz, as per the prerequisite for alignment tyre pressure and condition has to be checked and upon inspection if need be a quote on tyres has to be given.</p> <p> </p> <p>I did not received anything nor was I notified about the condition of the tyres. </p> <p> </p> <p>My point is the damage was on the inside wall of the tyre, I would not be able to see that! Furthermore it was the responsibility of Mercedes Benz to advise a quote or even just the condition of the tyres. </p> <p> </p> <p>I notified Mercedes Benz of the issue and all I got back was a vague apology.</p> <p> </p> <p>I could have met up in an accident injuring myself and other people if I was traveling faster than 30 km/h.</p> <p> </p> <p>Am I lucky that there was traffic that specific time??</p> <p> </p> <p>Why should we buy a Mercedes if they can’t even check the road worthiness of the vehicle after a service!!! As this happened 5km after collection!!</p> <p> </p> <p>Very unsafe situation caused by Mercedes Benz East Rand. </p> <p> </p>
