************ Business Ehtics

I have been a client of Mercedes for over 15 years and bought new cars on average every 2/3 years. In the last 6 years I have leased my vehicles. The time has come to return a SMART 4x4 car that has around 15000KM less than the allocated milage allowed. On returning my last two leased vehicles I had the same scenario on both my Mercedes, and was given a refund as obviously the car has a higher value. Writing to Mercedes Century City now they acknowledged that the vehicle is of course worth more, but refuse to give any credit for the higher value. Plus taking the vehicle in for pre-inspection, the driver floor mat has a tear for which they want to charge my R1600 for a new mat. Bearing in mind the car only has 45000km on it and normal wear and tear is covered in a lease contract the fact that the mat has a tear shows the 'inferior' quality of the mat. It should last much longer. So now I'm expected to also pay for bad workmanship! Interesting that on the previous occasion Mercedes credited me the extra kilometres not used, and now want to rip me off for an inferior car mat just shows me how much they care for a 15 year old client. The lack of business ethics and morals is highly offensive and insulting, and the new Mercedes I was going to buy – guess what – I am now taking my business elsewhere. What a disgrace and sad example of ************ business ethics, in my opinion.

See - management doesn't even respond! - Plain arrogance! at least they have staff members that seem to care - Nathir at Century City dropped the cost of the mat down to R600 and tried his best to accommodate me. Mercedes management needs to seriously look after this man better and rather put him into a senior management position as he seems to be the only person with service delivery and manners at Century City Mercedes.
