Mercedes Century City makes you order parts you don't need.

Dr Sanders had his E500 in Mercedes Culemborg a few times for a water leak. We weren't sure if it was the windscreen or sunroof, but they couldn't sort it out and still leaked. The car was taken back in June to attend to the leak and other things. We were told by them that the moulding between tne windscreen and the sunroof had to be ordered, as the glass people will have to temove it to seal the windscreen and it could break, so best to get a new one. The parts cost R21000.00. It had to be specifically ordered from Germany. The part arrived earlier than expected, thanks to Lance. There had been a problem where emails had been intercepted and the money got paid into a *****ulent account. We had the pay that amount again to get the part. Finally last week, I took the car to PG Glass in Barrack Street Cape Town. I was told that the parts ordered were not needed at all, and they have never had to replace that part. They removed the screen, resealed it and fitted it again. The camera had to be calibrated. Total cost R2900.00. When I took it up with the parts manger Hennie, at Century City, as they had moved from Culemborg to Century City, all he would say is that the part was a special or and HE WILL NOT TAKE IT back. He was very arrogant and would not listen to the fact that their workshop had told us to order the part and it was not needed and not our fault that tbe part was ordered. We were made to buy a part for R21000.00, which should never have been done. Hennie was rude and basically told me to keep quiet so that he can talk and reinforce that he will not take the part back. I then told him that I will go to Mercedes-Benz SA and Hello Peter. He said he didnt care and I can do that, but he will not take the part back. He didn't cancel the call when we finished talking and I heard him say, " He will not intimidate me". I thought about how rude he was, so I called to speak with the Dealer Principal. I left a message for him on Monday last week and a week later, he has still not called me back. I have heard nothing from the Dealer Principal or Hennie since then. Be careful of when Mercedes Century City tells you that you need parts. Get a second opinion.
