Menlynpark shopping Mall
I entered Menlynpark shopping centre today, 11 April at a 17:23. I went to 2 shops and paid my parking ticket (R10) at approx. 18:05. Somewhere between the paying station and my car I lost my ticket. I immediately drove to the 6th floor. I asked the security guard where to find centre management, as I recall from years back, that you have to go to centre management to raise your predicament. A person from centre management came to my car and said that I should pay R60 (lost ticket). This was excessive and I drove back to the card machine where I paid my ticket in the first instance, hoping that someone has found and left my ticket at the machine. Without success. I had to rush, as I had to pick up my child, so I paid the R60 lost ticket fee and left. The person helping me on the other side of the intercom at the paying station was not friendly or helpful at all.
When I stopped at my house and unloaded my vehicle, I found the lost ticket under one of the parcels. I phoned Menlynpark shopping centre immediately to report my "found". I wanted to drive back to the Menlypark shopping centre to reclaim my R60. The woman on the other side said it's non-refundable.
I feel that this is not fair and ****************. R60 is excessive. Even if I have spent the whole day there, the maximum is R40. How is it OK to penalize one so severely for a "lost ticket", but not refund a "founded ticket"? I paid in all R70 for my almost 40 minutes shopping spree at Menlyn. I am appalled at this situation. Other shopping centres has some areas of free parking during the week. I suppose they will not miss me when I'm gone.
