Purchase of pre-owned vehicle- Failure to treat customer fairly

I purchased a pre-owned car from Melrose Nissan which was obviously a trade-in from the previous customer and was assisted the salesman Johannes Moagi [mailto:*** in December 2015. I was not allowed to test drive the car because it was still in workshop for the rear light to be replaced as it was faulty but was promised that proper checks will be done before the car is handed to me.

The finance paperwork was completed on 23 december 2015 but because the company was closing for festive holidays i was told to take the car bring it back in the first week of janaury 2016 as the rear light problem was not yet sorted and the roadworthy report not available.

I struggled for over 3 weeks in january to get the issue sorted and was also promised that the roadworthy certificate will be ready for me when the car disc is delivered. to date i have not received the roadworthy certificate and the car has started giving me problems less than 6 months after purchasing it .

I have sent numerous emails to the branch manager Martin Roux on email: *** at Melrose Nissan and he has not bothered to reply to my emails or at least acknowledge receipt which means my complaint is nothing to him.

It is evident to me that I was sold a car that is not roadworthy if they cannot produce a simple 101 test certificate which they always promise to clients when they are sourcing for business.

no consumer is south africa deserves to be taken for a ride like and it is frustrating because month of month i have to pay for car that is not in use

Thapelo Mangoele
