PATHETIC CARE IN ICU MELOMED TOKAI

My dad was hospitalised in may 2023 for gastric surgery. This was 2 months after initial emergency room visits & 2 scopes which were done under General Anaesthesia. My dad was 79 years old on admission. After surgery he was admitted to ICU. INTENSIVE CARE DOES NOT APPLU TO THIS UNIT!!! My dad was there for 3 weeks and instead of his condition improving, it just got worse. After 2 weeks my dad was transferred to the high care section where a patient is supposed to be assigned a nurse 24/7. My dad had apparently contracted klebsiella pneumonia. Doctors were not forthcoming with diagnosis & my dad was just poked & prodded & pumped with meds. I walked in one day prior to visiting hours , only to find my dad almost on the floor. He was trying to get to the toilet. His BP cuff was off, his oximeter was lying on the floor & his drip was almost off. The monitor was buzzing but no help was in sight, until I called. WHERE WAS THE NURSE & DID NO ONE HEAR THE MONITOR!!! UNACCEPTABLE I was not impressed with the nursing staff in ICU. They were always short staffed & hunting for nurses in the evenings. How do they run their staff. The ICU has no strict adherence to policy. Visitors do not sanitise & neither do the Nurses!!! In our culture we do not eat beef. This was on his information sheet & after 3 weeks in hospital , they still got it wrong!!! ON 9 JUNE 2023 I discharged my dad myself as he was not getting the help he needed & his condition was deteriorating!!! My dad passed away peacefully on 17 June 2023 at home surrounded by his family. In My opinion my dad would have lived much longer , had it not been for the outrageous care at the hospital!! This is a private hospital & we expect so much better from these facilities. It seems that hospitals are now more interested in making money & not interested in patient care . Despicable!!
