Hospital operated despite not having authorization

To whom this may concern,<br> <br> On the 7th of January 2016 I went for a mammary checkup which, in turn led to me having positive results of breast cancer stage 2 in Durbanville Medi Clinic which Discovery only covered the mammogram and the other tests which I had to pay myself. <br> <br> I was then referred to Melomed private hospital to see J. Visser (Surgeon) who admitted me for a biopsy on the 17th of February which Discovery did not pay without authorization. Without medical expertise/ knowledge of the intricacies of medical aids I don't think the fault lies with me when it is to obtain pre-authorization.<br> <br> The biopsy monies of R2525.10 are still due and Melomed has shrugged its shoulders in shouldering any fault in this predicament.<br> <br> Once the biopsy results came through I was refered to Durbanville Medi Clinic under Dr. Schnetler, Corbet and Partners. Those doctors did further testing which, once again, was not pre-authorized yet I was allowed to complete the tests. The amount of these tests amount to a further R1620.74.<br> <br> I am a pensioner and these monies are hard to come by. I hope Melomed can sort this with Discovery ASAP considering I am struggling to attain any responsibilty from them.
