Always a bad experience at Gatesville

Good afternoon I have an issue with the way, specifically Melomed Gatesville deals with procedures

I have mentioned specifically as my family and myself have been patients of Tokai Melomed for period of time and we have never encountered any issues

The 9th May Rieyanah Allie ***086) my wife had extreme pains ,prior to that we have been in and out for 2 weeks for the same pains at our GP

Our GP strongly recommended ( due the pains that’s unbearable) for her to be admitted immediately to hospital

We then went straight to hospital with no time to wasting

Upon arrival we were advised to go via casualty, and yet we proceeded

Dr Laatoe was the doctor on duty , as per procedure she done the normal checks in casualty

Due to the fact I am one of the Imams of Masjidul Sabr in southern suburbs I had commitments to fulfil at mosque and had no choice to leave her there as I took it for granted that she is taken care of and it’s a matter of time before she gets admitted and on the return of my appointment I would come back to the hospital expecting her to be admitted

Perhaps you questioning “Why I would leave my wife there and come back?”

Every occasion we have admitted my daughters or wife- the wait was/is “ALYWAS” a ridiculous amount of hours 3-4 hours of wait regardless if casualty is full or not

On a previous occasion she Rieyanah has waited for 3 hours due to patients that have been discharged but waiting for their lifts in the wards (I fail to understand this type of procedure)

So coming back to my dilemma –Rieyanah called me just after 8pm on the 09/05 to fetch her

She was told by Dr Laatoe said her vitals is fine nothing serious

We left and bought the medication just under R1000

Rieyanah was still in pain in though- and on the 12/05 she had extreme pains the morning

I took her back to the GP,he was so shocked to see her thinking she was admitted and when she told him she got a script from Dr Laatoe his answer was, reason requesting to be admitted was those medication Dr Laatoe gave her he has given her that for the past 2 week which didn’t work

Heading furiously to Gatesville upon arrival I requested to speak the matron

He assisted me getting her admitted

So I do expect a full refund of the co payment I have been charged

All went well until Rieyanah was discharged and received bills from Dr Bandeker

Firstly this Doctor know he will not be paid for the scan how come did her pursuit?

How come was Dr Garach not referred to attend to her as he is on her medical plan

Why I am reading on the reviews of Dr Bandeker that’s its a regular practise to follow , do scans out of patients hospital plans and sending them hefty bills??

So if there’s no affiliation with Dr Bandeker and hospital where billing is concern , so whys he working from there??

I have logged a complaint with the hospital when Rieyanah was discharged where the service is concern ,the complaints department fail to assist and no action was taken

Apart of the above queries – due the incompetence of Dr Laatoe sending her home the 09/05

Rieyanah has got a warning at work and a deduction on her salary ,where by if she was admitted the sun most likely she would’ve returned to work 20/05

As per Dr Bandeker’s scan Rieyanah was also diagnosed with gallbladder stones

I have asked her did she mention to Doctor she is going on pilgrimage?

She have mentioned to him and his answer with casualty was, if pains you can’t walk so severe come back

So we came back 09/07 with extreme severe pains

She was attended to by Dr Hendricks

We were coming to Gatesville Melomed on one condition that we refuse to Dr Bandeker to attend to her ,we have called the hospital where they ( discovery call centre) have told us Dr Garach can attend to her and his on key care plan

We have came there at 3:30pm yesterday

Doing the normal procedures in casualty I awaited her

Later in the process I was called to go to Morton and partners to sign authorization and liability

I went and asked what’s this all about as last procedure it wasn’t required which was 2 months ago

A 3*** payment which was a shocker I refused and headed back to the Doctor Hendriks

Adamant Dr Hendriks told me the CT scan needs to be done requested by Dr Garach

This couldn’t be required as I spoke to Razaan of Dr Garaches suite prior to bringing Rieyanah to melomed

He insisted he spoke to Dr Garach

I then went to the front desk to ask one of the consultants call discovery

They dialled and I spoke to consultant where he said didn’t really require CT scans but Procedures and ICD codes is imperative

I went back but yet he still refused , he then called Dr Bandeker explaining to him that we want to admit Rieyanah but also didn’t want to see him

I stood behind the doctor and seem to me there was some conversation happening where I could hear him saying“ This seems to be problem”

Shortly after he hung up not knowing I am stood behind him and heard the conversation, he told me Dr Bandeker said Dr Garach requires the CT scan

I told Doctor Hendriks thank you for the time (which was 05:55pm),requested whatever piping needs to be disconnected as I am taking my wife else where

Shortly leaving Dr Hendriks called me telling me they will admit her as he spoke “again” to Dr Garach

So currently she has been admitted-

How come Dr Hendriks and Co didn’t to this the first time???

Gladly this morning my wife asked Dr Garach if Dr Hendriks called him twice yesterday ,He said not at all

Why all the lies and conniving??

Aren’t you dealing with people lives?

I think this is where I draw the line I would gladly give you time to approach this problem

I am well prepared to firstly approach CARTE BLANCHE to ask them to du full investigation as well as ,Cape Argus ,The Voice and News 24 and take it to every possible social platform if this problem doesn’t get sorted.
