Terrible Customer Service
My experience at Melissa's was not great at all when it came to customer service. The actual nail treatment was very good and quick, and I'm happy with that. What left me feeling so horrible was the way I was treated. I arrived and was asked what I wanted, and when I asked for French tips, the lady told me I was boring and started making fun of me. I must admit, I was nervous and I felt a bit shy and so I laughed along with her. Obviously after that I felt really insecure about my choice and so I was given the other colour options on the key rings (dropped down in front of me, not even handed to me) and felt pressured to make a different choice. I told her I have never done French tips and I have always wanted it but she kept teasing me about it and telling me I'm boring. I guess she thought she was funny.
Then I eventually decided I liked the rose gold and thought of doing that with a peachy colour and when I asked for that she again made fun of me. Then she told Melissa next to her, after which Melissa and her customer also started telling me how old school that is and I'm too young for it. I felt like I was under so much pressure and I just eventually gave up and went with different shades of blue that was suggested to me.
At one point, my technician even mimicked me in a high-pitched voice and still carried on making fun of me. I was genuine with them and kept telling them it's only my 2nd time and I really just wanted the French tips but felt so outnumbered that I didn't even have the courage to speak up. I honestly should have left the minute that lady started making fun of me and I so badly wish I did, but I wasn't as courageous as I would've like to be. But now I'm sitting a day later digesting all of these feelings and honestly the service was absolutely disgusting. I wanted French tips and that should've been accepted. Their opinion should not have been voiced just because they think it's too old school. That's their opinion but I'm the one who has to look at my nails and be happy with them.
I will honestly never, ever go back to Melissa's and if anyone ever asks me about their salon I will be dead honest. The customer service was appalling but the actual nail service was good. It felt like there was a certain sense of "everyone is friends" there and it's as if they forgot that there needed to be professionalism as well, and that you can't forget that you are a business and you need all of your customers. I hope they learn to be more professional as I see so many other reviews complaining about the very same issue of poor customer service.
