Shocking customer service. Never been treated to badly in my entire life!

I purchased a pair of shoes from Melissa the shoe shop on the 18th August. The shoes were on sale and were R450. The stores policy is no exchanges,no refunds. The shoes were given to me as a Birthday gift ,so I was only then given them on the 18th September.

On the 18th December I visited the store as the shoe is starting to break. I was told that if I bring the shoes in along with the proof of purchase , I will be given e new pair.

On the 19th December, I did just that. I was then told something totally different from what I was told the day before. Now I wouldn't be given a pair and my shoes needed to be kept and an email had to be sent to head office. The store had the exactly same style and size of shoe in stock , but the sales lady said she will keep them aside for me. I was told that I would probably be able to make collection on Friday 23rd December

On Thursday 22nd December , I phoned the store to double check if I could collect the pair of shoes the following day. I was told that nothing had been heard from Head Office and that they don't know when I would be able to collect the shoes. They were not prepared to phone head office.

I then decided to phone head office and was told that an email was never received from the store. The lady I spoke to over the phone said that the store manager should of resolved this, but I should now go back to the store and be given my new pair. I was told that I store manager would phone me

on Friday 23nd December ,I had heard nothing. I then decided to phone head office yet again. I was told that I must go into the store and be given my new pair. I then phoned the store and spoke to the store manager. I told her exactly what I was told and that she is waiting for head office to phone her and that she will contact me.

A few few minutes later I received the call and was told another totally different story. Now I can no longer receive the pair of shoes that were kept for me. That pair had been sent to another store ! I don't know how if it had been kept aside from me with my name. Now I was told that because it is a sale item there is no refunds no exchanges. I try to explained numerous amounts of times that I am not exchanging the shoes , I am bring in their product that is faulty and is broken. I was now told that I was going to be given a different pair of shoes and was just expected to like them.

An email was sent through of the pair of shoes that I was going to be given and it was a total joke. I brought in my pair of black sandals and now was being given red flip flops !!! I sent an email back saying that I was definitely not collecting theses shoes and that I will try yet again with head office to resolve this issue.

Later in the day I received a phone call from the manageress that is in charged of the entire Melissa Shoe Shops in Sotuh Africa. I can say that never have I ever been spoken to so badly and run down in my entire life !!!

I was basically told that I am asking for a lot to be given a new pair as the business has already lost money on the shoes I bought as it was on sale. It basically felt like a was being ungrateful not wanting to receive the red flip flops !!! I was told that if I go anywhere in South Africa I would not be able to return an item bought on clearance in more than 6 months. I then had to repeat myself saying that I am not being in a pair of shoes wanting to return them ,but I am being in their product that is broken and faulty. I haven't even worn the shoes for 3 months let alone 6. I was told that the items goes on sale for a reason. The store should then tell customers that if they shoes break it is your problem. They by no means are happy to give me a new pair and I will be collecting my broken pair from the store which I will need to fix at my own cost. By the end of the phone call I was in utter tears and so not want anything to do with the store

Its is basically the same thing as returning a broken vacuum cleaner and then be given an oven.

Never have I ever been treated to badly! Their policy is shocking. Customer service doesn't exist.
