STAY AWAY!!!
Truck was supposed to pick up my furniture from King Williams to Kimberley. Booking was paid in full by the 07/12/2023 for the loading to take place on Wednesday, the 27/12/2023. I was informed only in the a few hours before pick up that the Truck had a breakdown in Port Elizabeth and a part had to be couriered from Johannesburg to Port Elizabeth. I was told pick up will then happen on the 28th at 14:00, I explained that the furniture is going to a storage unit, and unfortunately there won’t be anyone at the offices after 17:00 on weekdays and it will be closed for the Weekend which is why the pick-up was scheduled for the 27th so the delivery can take place latest the 29th. The morning of the 28th, I had to call without any luck only to be called back around 11 that the truck will be coming at 16:00. I called again after 15:00 without any luck. Was then called back to be told that the truck will only be coming the 29th at 11:00, I queried what would happen with the drop off as the Storage Company will be closed for the weekend, Caleb assured me that they would make a plan. I was renting a house, I gave notice for the 27th so new tenants had to move in as well, so this was not an inconvenience to me only, but to the landlord as well as new tenants. The driver called me only after 14:00 to ask me for my location, he was not informed that the pick up is in King Williams Town, he only arrived after 18:30. I still had to wait for them to load everything, drop the house keys off and drive 8 hours to Kimberley with my wife and 3 Kids. Once loading was complete, the driver asked me to point out where they could by some dagga… I found that very disturbing, and informed him that he’s out of line and he could have spotted that my wife is a Police Officer, he chuckled and said then we are the best people to ask.
I arrived in Kimberley on Saturday morning, the 30th. That afternoon, I received a call from Caleb that the Truck was close to Kimberley and if I had access to the Storage Unit. I explained for a 3rd time that unfortunately, the Storage Company is not operating on weekends. Caleb then requested the storage company’s contact details. Only to be called later in the evening by the truck driver asking if Caleb had spoken to me because he was informed to drop my stuff in Kimberley and proceed to another drop off and pick up in Johannesburg. I informed him that I explained to the conditions when I made the booking, when he came to load and I when I got to Kimberley.
My furniture was driven to Johannesburg, then down to Port Elizabeth, it was stored somewhere I don’t even know and loaded to another truck. The drop off only happened today, Friday the 5th of January.
As soon as the truck was opened, one of my Queen beds was put flat, with blankets on it, evidently that it had been used for sleeping during the trip. The furniture was not properly secured as it were before it left King Williams Town. My chest freezer which is brand new if full of dents, my son’s desk is completely broken, my daughter’s desk is broken as well.
I informed Caleb of the damages, he requested pictures and I’ve shared them. He has not said anything and it’s now 4 hours later. I again will have to call him and be sent from pillar to post and most probably will not get any positive outcome.
My advice to you, PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!!!
