Mega mind tutor centre in Olivedale

I think it's time I share my story about that place. I worked at Mega Mind Tutor Centre in Olivedale Johannesburg North.

I worked there for Coleen a few years back for not a very long time. Coleen knew from the get go that I didn't have a car or a licence at the time it cleared stated it on my CV but she hired me any way because my boyfriend (at the time) was going to take me to work and fetch me from work. I had also explained to Coleen that this was my first job in a whole and things at home are financially difficult for my boyfriend and I. I am also a non smoker and Coleen and her staff were so at break times I always sat alone on purpose because I couldn't handle the smell of cigarettes. One day when I was sitting alone during Break a teenaged boy approached me and sat by me. I didn't see a problem it it because he was one of my learner's and I wanted to get to know them all. The next day he sat by me again and without even questioned he bought up to my attention something that was happening at he's home some kind of abuse. I felt I did the right thing in informing Coleen immediately about what the boy told me. Her response gives me shivers till this very day. She said to me how do I know that boy is telling me the truth and that. I was wrong for telling him that we will get to the bottom of this and that he just wants attention. I was also a P.E teacher there and my colleagues adviced me to watch videos on YouTube to see wyat small excersises I could do with the kids. The other colleagues went to Coleen and made it seem like I was watching Soapies during working hours (we shared an office 4 teachers in 1 office Coleen obviously had her own) and beleived it and I tried to show her my search history on YouTube but wouldn't hear it. The next day I was called into her office and she just gave me some money I remember it to be R1600 told me to sign for it and then told me I am fired. I asked her why and she said it is because I don't have a car of my own I was livid and went outside to my boyfriend and told him what had happened he went inside to try and speak to her because I really needed a job at the time and pointed her finger in he's face and said YOU ARE NOT AN ATTORNEY. I had bought my own things to that place to make my table easy an pretty and accused me of steeling them from her. Thankfully one of the teachers did see me coming in with them from my home so he said politely corrected her that those a re actually my personal belongings. I was devastated and too this very day I worry about that child. I was young at the time and didn't know what to do about it other than tell Coleen about it but now I know I could've involved Social Workers and the Department of Education and Social Services. She was right I didn't know if that boy was being honest with me or not but I felt it was worth investigating. If something did happen to that boy I blame Coleen for it because she didn't allow it to be taken further. We will never know.
