Meerhof Lodge is NO 4-star B&B

What a disappointment our stay was at Meerhof Lodge! I booked in on Saturday at 15:00 and arranged to be very late back in that night. The room smelled very musty and damp. It was clear that it was not aired properly. Upon arrival at 02:30, all the gates were locked. The electric motor of the gate was out of order and I was assured that I would be able to open in manually. We had no way of getting onto the property and had to phone the unfortunate Zimbabwean who lives on the property. He was very polite, despite the hour. <br> The next morning I decided against using their bath or shower because of the mould everywhere. My husband did shower, I the water just stopped halfway through.<br> We survived the ordeal and went in search of breakfast. No one in the office! We met our man from the early hours again and was only then told that we had to go for breakfast elsewhere. He gave us a voucher (R50 each) for breakfast at Jasmyn, a few kilometers from the place.
