Discovery is Ripping us Off through Medxpress!
I have several chronic conditions. Ever since Discovery implemented the MedXpress system, it has failed me on an almost monthly basis. The problems range from using "stock outs" as an excuse for not properly understanding manufacturer packaging standards. To an almost monthly call (now routed to a central switchboard, since MedXpress is no longer fully functional), which often gets nothing but a reference number and not even a callback. Or the constant technical difficulties experienced on the system (whether app or website is used), which often results in last-minute phone calls needing to be made to secure my medication. Indeed, if it were not due to the more efficient services of DisChem (who have too many times intervened on an urgent basis) I would have been left in the dangerous position of running out of chronic medication which would have seriously compromised the management of my illnesses. Given the very high premiums discovery collects from me, I deserve a higher level of service. Such behaviour signifies seriously poor controls and customer care - basic signs of a management that hasn't got its act together. The poor level of service Medxpress offers would not occur in any modern country. Why does Discovery think South Africans should be prepared to put up with their incompetence? I am on Discovery not because it has fancy frills and rewards but because I am forced to due to shockingly dangerous standards in public health care. Absent this threat I would cancel my membership to the scheme immediately and currently do not recommend it to any of my friends or associates. Constant "we apologise for the inconvenience caused" just don't cut it, because when the behaviour is repeated so often the apology itself is insincere and hence insulting.
