UNPAID HOSPITAL CLAIM
Kindly refer to the email below which I wrote to my medical aid on the 28th of March 2018 and have not received feedback. I made a follow upon the 9th of this month and was advised that a team leader by the name of REESE will call me I am still to get that call.
Towards the end of December 2017 I went to my GP because I was experiencing headaches, short breath, etc. He discovered that my blood pressure was extremely high and suggested that I see a physician specialist. My blood pressure is very volatile and requires vigorous treatment hence I am on chronic and have been for more than 20 years. Refer to my chronic profile. In 1998 I suffered a minor stroke the doctor advised that the blood pressure was abnormally high and I had to be given immediate attention. Blood pressure is a PMB condition and has to be attended to without restrictions. Based on the above statement, I was not ready to have another stroke hence I went to seek help by the hospital. Had I seen my specialist he would have probably also referred me to the hospital (to be fully admitted) this means you would have had to pay 3 bills. My GP, the specialist and the hospital, however now there is only 2 bills to take care of and it’s still a problem. My question to you is, how was I supposed to be treated? What matters most, it is my health as your member or the money? Wouldn’t it have caused you more if I was admitted for the whole night and day? I called a while back and I was advised that your pre-auth will liaise with the hospital direct in order to resolve this in terms of getting an authorisation. Please advise. This is the response I received immediately after my email to them. This e-mail serves to confirm that we have received and are attending to your query. Your query number is :280318QP8J0S Expected query resolution time for emails: 5 working days from date of receipt, excluding weekends and public holidays. Should additional information be required, resolution time may be extended. Please DO NOT reply to the e-mail address this message was sent from. Kind regards, The hospital send me a text message on Friday they are handing me over.

Good day
With reference to your Hello Peter Complaint received 14/05/2018.
Kindly be advised, with reference to all casualty accounts, if the patient is not admitted to hospital, these accounts are payable from the member’s available day to day benefits in accordance to scheme rules.
Please be advised, should the doctors have seen the need for an admission, they would have admitted the patient so that the necessary medical care could have been provided accordingly, however the doctors found it fit to discharge the patient and not admit, hence the account remains being rejected in accordance to scheme rules.
We trust you find the above in order.
Yours sincerely,
Medshield
