Unlimited in-hospital services - false advertising
My wife was with Medshield medivalue scheme. She was a perfectly healthy individual and got sick with flu last year. She was in hospital for about a month before she passed on. They claim to provide unlimited in hospital benefits on their website and use the words \unlimited in-hospital services\" which is misleading to the consumers. That is actually not the case. My wife was in hospital since the day she was admitted and the medical AID has short paid many of her bills based on the fact the the hospital/doctors somehow overcharge or exclusions. What is quite disturbing is that both the Eugen Marais hospital and the Unitas hospital fall in the hospital network so i don't understand why anyone working in those hospitals would overcharge. Hospital/doctor charges should be upfront and agreed before the medshield agrees to have them in their network. Its make no logical sense for the customer otherwise. I am now left with an outstanding bill from Unitas hospital for R143 000. After the loss of my wife i don't expect to have outstanding bills for such large amounts after we have been paying a Medical AID every month. I would Warn people to be weary of any product from Medshield"
