******** non payment of claims

My mom was diagnosed with cancer in late 2010. She is a 74 year old woman who has been through the mill with chemo and radium. In addition to this my father is also ill, chronically diabetic, 80% blind, an amputee who is dependent on my mom. My parents medical aid is with Medshield, and us as their kids have decided pay their medical aid which is in excess of R7000 for the two of them. In October last year, my mum had to do her cancer checks and as part of that she had to have a bone scan done. My mom gets a call from Lexmed, now 9 months later, no communication in between, saying she has been handed over for an amount of R7394.50 for the bone scan done in October last year. I called Medshield to find out what was going on. They said the reason for the non payment was that there were no funds. After further investigation the lady helping me at Medshield (Lee), said as at December 2017 there was still over R6000 left in there radiology fund, and she doesn't know why the amount wasn't paid. Further to this my mom is a cancer patient, cancer being a PMB condition. I have lodged complaints in the past with CMS against Medshield as they have now become a fund that will only pay out PMB's if they are forced to. My sisters and I cannot afford to cover their medical expenses as we are already paying their medical aid, and have given them a premium plan so that they are well covered. My parents are pensioners barely making ends meet. Why do we have to deal with this fund not paying out what they rightfully should be paying? This amount and any other amount pertaining to my parents PMB conditions need to be paid out in full, failing this I will have no choice but to lodge yet another formal complaint against them with CMS.

Medshield has 'resolved' this matter 3 weeks after I published this complaint by not paying out this claim in full! They are short paying the doctor by R700 and do not care that this account was handed over to LEXMED whom I'm assuming also needs some form of compensation. Please remember my mom is a cancer patient, and her routine tests are PMB as part of her treatment, which means that they should be covered in full. Their execution and claims handling borders on *******. I am not interested in the admin miscommunications between the doctor and Medshield - they must sort that out between themselves....for heavens sakes we pay R7850 per month for two people and they cannot cover this bone scan without being difficult?? This scheme is a nightmare. They will cheat you with a couple hundred bucks so that you won't lay a complaint and they hope you say 'agh its just a couple hundred bucks lets pay and get this nightmare over with'....so if they did this with a 1000 claims essentially they would be cheating consumers out of 100s of thousands. Like I say we pay nearly R8000 monthly for my parents medical aid...neither one of my parents were hospitalized in 2017 or 2018, yet this scheme is cheating us on this claim? It should have been paid nearly a year ago! No consumer should have to go through what we are with this scheme. If Dr. Louw and Lexmed are not sorted in full, I will have no choice but to take my grievances to any outlet willing to hear me, I will not let this rest.
