Unacceptable Delay on PMB Claim - Medshield and GapRisk Administrators

I am extremely frustrated and disappointed with Medshield and GapRisk Administrators regarding an outstanding medical bill. A procedure was performed in July, and for over two months, I have been caught in a continuous cycle of being given the runaround by both providers. The outstanding bill is for a doctor who claims this was a Prescribed Minimum Benefit (PMB) procedure. Medshield insists it is not, while my gap cover, GapRisk Administrators, states they cannot pay until Medshield provides a clear ruling. The Medical Schemes Act stipulates that PMB conditions must be covered by a medical aid. The back-and-forth between Medshield and GapRisk has resulted in the doctor's account being handed over to attorneys, and I am now at risk of being blacklisted. I pay monthly premiums to both my medical aid and my gap cover to prevent exactly this kind of situation. My broker at Optivest has been trying to resolve this for two months with no success. It is clear that I am not receiving the service I am paying for. If this is not a PMB, my gap cover should pay. If it is a PMB, Medshield must cover the claim by law. This stalemate is causing me immense stress. I have been failed by everyone involved. My last resort is to file a complaint with the Council for Medical Schemes (CMS) Ombudsman as my credit record will be unfairly affected by this.

I have not heard anything from medshield and its now 8 days later. Unfortunately, i have had to contact Ombudsman as i am being harassed by debit collectors on a daily.
