******* medical aid late joining penalty

Would like to take up a medical aid, only to find out we have to pay a late joinfee of R750. If one could not afford medical aid previously to 35 years if age your forced to pay this penalty which doesn't even go towards your medical aid ... strange enough not even the consultant. Beside the 1500 +/- premium you also have to take up gap coverage and mind you this is 750 every month its not even a once off pmt.

How do the ppl make it to pay this money and it has no bearing on your cover. Where is the money going too who is pocketing this money. Is it my fault that I could not previously afford a medical aid and even now cannot afford it but rather I am making an attempt to acquire one with what little we have. And all that I get told is that just how the medical system works. Isn't the medical system meant to help many ppl have lost their jobs and lives and here they are trying to scheme more of the hard working ppl.

Highly disappointed even if one can pay every month after the age of 35 they would rather stay without it because they are required to pay a penalty for not being able to afford it previously.
