Promises to pay do not materialize

I wrote a review last week with regards to Medhshield's handling of PMB claims. My father was hospitalized and so many of his hospital claims were not paid in full even though the condition was classified as PMB. They got back to me via email and said that all of his claims during the hospitalization will be paid out.

I received two calls today demanding money:

1) Lancet labs called saying my dad's hospital bill on 27 September was not paid in full, there is an amount outstanding as Medshield only partially paid it.

Further to this they informed me that my dad went for his periodic blood tests on 14 November 2018 and that account wasn't paid at all due to availability of funds. I called CMS today and they informed me that those blood tests done on the 14th also need to be paid out, as they are required for his survival and part of the treatment of his PMB conditions. He is severely diabetic, an amputee, blind and does not hear properly. They also told me that I should give the scheme the opportunity to pay, if they continue to refuse, then I should lay an official complaint with CMS. Medshield must pay BOTH these outstanding LANCET blood tests, failing which, I will have no option but to do as advised.

2) I keep receiving accounts from Dr Monteith Nay Wells and Herman Inc for an account that Meshield promised to sort out, as it was done during my father's admission on 26.09.2018. These accounts are now 2 months old, medshield has said to me in writing that all accounts pertaining to that admission will be paid in full, but still I am being plagued by these people?

Your service is bad Medshield. We are constantly fighting for you to simply do what you are legally obligated to do.

Honestly this is not acceptable. So your email tells me that you will not pay for the chest X-ray because it says "chest pain unspecified" and it does not correspond to his reason for hospitalization?? The man's heart wasn't functioning properly and you won't pay for the chest X-ray? Would you rather they have not done the X-ray? He is nearly 80 has an enlarged heart, ischemic heart disease, failing kidneys, angina but you're finding a reason not to pay for a chest X-ray of less than R200, whilst he was admitted in hospital? This, after we pay R8000 a month to you for two people? Of course the chest X-ray was related to his admission! His chronic heart medication which stabilises his heart was no longer working and his heart went haywire, but you think the chest x ray was unrelated? I expect Medshield to call Dr's Monteith and get the correct coding for this X-ray and sort it out. Even more appalling is you telling me that you have rightfully not paid for his blood test on the 14th of November because although it's PMB, you don't have the correct coding??? Do you understand that if he does not have these blood tests, he cannot continue treatment??? And then you tell me I should get Lancet to give you the codes? So after all the complaining and misery and difficulty you put us through, we must also sort out the admin issues between the medical aid and the medical suppliers?? The moral and ethical onus is on you to correct this when it is brought to your attention by your client. Sort out these admin issues pay Dr's Monteith AND Lancet and STOP trying to wiggle your way out of claims you have to pay!!! You people are doing this to thousands of your clients daily, saving millions by not rightfully paying small amounts here and there. Carte Blanche has exposed Medical Aids for doing just what you are doing right now.
