Medshild Bad Service

I have joined Medshield in March 2024 and had a 3 months waiting period to be able to use my medical aid. In August 2024 after the waiting period lapsed, i endured pain that was severe and had to take my self to a hospital near me to be checked as it was in the evening of the 8th August 2024. The doctor on call in the Public Hospital had to transfer immediately to a private hospital either in Bloemfontein or East London. The private hospital in Bloemfontein refused to take me in taking about the waiting period. So I had no choice but to be transferred to a public hospital in East London, Free Hospital. Admitted in the eraly hours of the 9th August. Due to lack of facilities needed to check what was wrong with me, they saw that I have medical aid and the doctor made a referral letter to a specialist in St Dominic's Private Hospital in East London. I was accepted on the 13th August 2024 and an ultrasound was performed, blood drawn, stools taken for investigation as to what might be my illness. On the 14th I was due for gastroscopy as the ultra sound did not see anything wrong or gall stones as they thought might be the problem. On the 15th the hospital had to sicharge me because Medshield did not authorize my hospital stay pending investigations of disclosure or non disclosure. I could not continue with the procedure and I left hospital still feeling sick. I don't understand how can one disclose an illness when they do not know what that illness is. I never had such pain in my life and a medical aid not caring of their members, they rather discharge them and take took long ro investigate. I was told to wait 5 to 8 working days to get the feedback, whilst my life is at risk. I wouldn't recommend this medical aid to anyone. What I see you pay your monthly payments, but once you need medical care there so many underwriting that will hinder with your welfare.
