Medshield - Worst medical aid
We are so sick and tired of this medical aid. My husband was in a VERY serious motorcycle accident on 1 Aug 2018. Spend nearly a month in ICU and a further 2 weeks in hospital. He shattered his pelvis in the front, broke his pelvis in the back. Fractured 6 ribs, broke both is wrists, tore his urether, had an open tibia fracture and broke his other ankle. He was classified as a PMB candidate due to the severity of his injuries. He is currently in rehab, where he has to learn how to do everything from scratch. It is a daily struggle that goes hand in hand with a lot of hard work and pain. He is now also immune to all antibiotics due the amount of infections he has had thus far. It is a constant battle to get PMB accounts paid. We have to do the constant follow up and play middle man between the vendor and medical aid. The worst is that my husband was still in ICU when the medical aid lawyers contacted me to submit their documents to our lawyer to claim their costs on their behalf from the Road accident fund. What a joke, they havent paid their share, but they are already asking us to claim on their behalf!!! My husband is being discharged tomorrow from the Netcare rehabilitation hospital. He still requires at least 3 hours of physio therapy everyday. They are also "deciding" whether or not they will pay for the wheelchair and other equipment he will need to mobilise. We had to hand in salary slips, 3 months bank statements, whatever for?? Do they decide whoever earns a salary, won't receive they necessary approval for the necessary equipment that is required for his aftercare, as stated by law??? (I am soooo sick of this)
I want to make the following publicly known seeing that motivational letters, phone calls etc has no effect...They are discharging him tomorrow in the midst of an infection, fever spiking every few hours, urine , blood and pus oozing from an opening in his groin, into my care, that has no medical background or training, should anything happen to my husband, whilst in my care, after his primary doctor and the****** has strongly advised against his discharge, I will initiate legal procedures! This is not a threat, but a fact!!!
