Medshield risking life of 86-year-old cancer patient over ******** PMB decline – Disgraceful!

Medshield Medical Scheme is an absolute disgrace and show zero accountability. They have ********ly declined the funding for life-saving weekly Aranesp injections for my 86-year-old uncle, who suffers from Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS). This condition is a statutory Prescribed Minimum Benefit (PMB) and his profile is actively approved under their Oncology Program (Auth No: ***5), yet they demanded cash or a plan upgrade. When we escalated this urgently, Medshield completely ignored our 24-hour ultimatum and instead used cheap POPIA delay tactics to stall while a vulnerable cancer patient was left without his critical medication. Because they actively endangered his life, we have officially filed a statutory non-compliance complaint with the Council for Medical Schemes (CMS) today. We have also summarily terminated his membership effective 31 August and moved him to Discovery Health to secure his life. Standard Bank has already been instructed to block any future debit orders from Medshield. Avoid Medshield at all costs if you value your health and life!
