Medshield incompetence

<p>16 month ago a new Life Healthcare Hospital opened in my area (KZN) - good news, as my Mediplus option does not cover the excellent Howick Mediclinic on my doorstep. In May I needed a procedure and it was confirmed by Medshield, that the new Life Hilton Hospital was on the DSP list, my procedure was authorised and paid in full.</p> <p>I noticed recently that this hospital does still not appear on the updated Medshield network list of DSP hospitals so sent an email seeking clarification. The reply stated that this hospital <span style="text-decoration: underline;">is not</span> on the DSP list?!</p> <p>How can this be - confirmation that it <span style="text-decoration: underline;">is</span> listed a few months ago - and now denial that <span style="text-decoration: underline;">it is not</span>. Come on Medshield, this is simply not good enough. My next nearest DSP hospital is over 30 kms away and Medshield promises that permission will be given for use of a closer hospital where this is the case. So what IS the answer?</p>
