MEDSHIELD CORPORATE ******

Dear South Africans, please be very careful of Medshield medical aid especially when you pay cash and then submit a claim for them to reimburse you, they would in most cases short change you but read my encounter below.

I went for some blood tests on the 29th December 2021 at Lancet, paid cash and submitted a claim to Medshield to reimburse me, they kept rejecting Lancets invoice stating that details required on the invoice didn't appear on it so after running back and forth, I managed to get an amended invoice with what they required to which they still declined to pay me, apparently the tariff codes were invalid for the claim yet when you use your medical aid savings at Lancet, they pay out Lancet within a week or less. Eventually they agreed to pay a lesser amount and sent me a message that they will be paying Lancet, their *********** staff wanted to pay Lancet yet I already paid Lancet and just needed them to pay me from my savings, please be aware that their terms and conditions are worded in such a manner that will be construed to their advantage, I've learnt this first hand.

I also submitted a claim for a Covid 19 test that my wife went for in December 2021 and still have not been paid, apparently due to an invalid tariff code, remember that when you don't utilize your medical aid savings, that money isn't carried over to your profile, nope, it is held back by Medshield and is added to their annual profits, This makes complete sense since there should be no reason why they don't pay out your claims, I mean who in their right mind would voluntarily go to a doctor or for blood tests, it is something normal people would avoid.

Their after sales service is putrid, when you use your medical aid savings at Lancet, Lancet invoices them directly, if the invoice is not to their standards/requirements, they ask Lancet to correct it in order to pay them out, why cant they do the same when we as clients submit our claims. Are they unaware of the current global pandemic and economic crisis, we are trying to hold on to our jobs which is how we pay for medical aid, if we lose our jobs then we will not afford medical aid and cancel, the ripple effect of more people going through this will result in Medshield eventually going bankrupt, they need training on how to take care of their clients by seriously re-looking at the employment policy.

Anyway I hope this is resolved soon or else i will have to start looking at another medical aid or just save the extra money.

NB: The blood tests were all clear but at the rate im trying to get paid out from Medshield for my claims, I may need more blood tests because instead of offering their clients ease during distressing times, they just add to the burden.
